Easter

I love this time of year! I love the surprise of seeing flowers pop up that I forgot I planted in the fall, seeing the trees bud, watching newborn calves play in the field and it staying light longer. I also enjoy the traditions of Easter like coloring eggs, singing 'Here comes Peter Cottontail' or at least the few words of it that I remember, hiding eggs for my nieces and nephew, Easter baskets and the traditional ham dinner.
We decided to skip coloring eggs this year with Caleb but the Easter Bunny did come to visit and brought him a basket filled with eggs, the book 'Peter Rabbit' and a chocolate Easter bunny (toy vs. candy) . We had a good time hanging out at my grandma's and enjoyed spending time with my brother and his family. My nieces and nephew were a lot of fun and loved hunting eggs even though it was a bit chilly outside. Caleb didn't really get into hunting eggs but he liked being outside for a few minutes and Caitlin and Sierra found a couple of eggs for him and put in his basket and told me they were for "baby Caleb".

4 Month Check-Up

Remember I'm playing catch up so Caleb's 4 month check-up was actually on March 13. He did really good and appears to be doing just fine. He was asleep when we arrived and woke up right before they called his name.He weighs 13 lbs 12 oz. (25th percentile), is 26 1/4 inches long (90th percentile) and his head is 16 1/2 (50th percentile). The pediatrician said he is a little thin but nothing to worry about he is just long and lean. Even though it's killing my mom we are holding off introducing him to cereal. The pediatrician said that she recommends waiting until he is 5 or 6 months old.

He wasn't able to get his HIP vaccine because they are out of it (Well they are out if you have insurance, they have a limited supply and could have given it to him if I didn't have insurance. Crazy! Don't even get me started on my thoughts on this.) They said they would give it to him at his next appointment if they have it.
He did really well and only cried for a few minutes after they gave him the shots (an oral vaccine and 2 shots in his right leg). He didn't seem to be as sore this time but did run some fever during the night which kept him up quite a bit even though I gave him some Tylenol.

4 Months Old

Seriously someone put the brakes on this fast moving train. I know I say it every month but I don't know where the time has gone and can't believe that Caleb is already 4 months old. David and I love every minute with him and can't imagine life without him. While there are moments that can be a little trying there are way more times that we set in awe of this little wonder that God has given us. Each day seems to get better and better as we continue to learn to adapt to one another and learn how to be parents.

Here are some of the things that have happened since Caleb's 3 month celebration:

1. He is able to move objects from one hand to the other
2. We have put up his newborn clothes and are wearing clothes 0-3 and 3-6 months.
3. We have transitioned into size 1 diapers
4. Now that the weather is getting better we are able to get out every now and then for walks in the neighborhood
5. He has found his feet and loves playing with them. He is still working on getting them up to his mouth.
6. He still hasn't decided to roll over but he is very close to rolling from his back to his stomach.
7. He is starting to get a little better about not fussing during tummy time
8. He laughs out loud a lot and is ticklish under his arms and between his shoulder blades.
9. He likes sitting in the exersaucer and is getting a bit more stable in it.

Catch Up

Ok so I'm a little behind and am going to attempt to use the next few posts to catch up on what has been going on this month.

Here we go........

Happy Birthday David!

Ok, so I'm a little late wishing David "Happy Birthday" on our blog considering it was March 1 but rest assured Caleb and I did remember his big day. I even decided to be cheesy and put David's gifts on the kitchen table after he went to bed so that he would find them when he woke up.

We started the day out by getting our haircut and then just lazed around the house which is what David said he wanted to do. Caleb's gift to his Daddy was a 2 hour nap so even though it was gorgeous outside David and I took advantage of some much deserved shut eye. This was the best gift Caleb could have given his Daddy and for those of you that know our little guy this was HUGE because he is not much of a napper.

We ended up finishing the day with dinner at Texas Land and Cattle. Caleb did great and we really enjoyed our evening out of the house.

Happy Belated Birthday David!
