All Things Valentine

I'm so glad that I decided to take the day off and was able to spend the day with Caleb. We had a great day together!

In preparation for today Caleb and I made some Valentine treats yesterday. Caleb helped me mix the batter up for the cupcakes and put the sprinkles on.

Leading up to Valentine's day Caleb and I made a couple of Valentine cards and some decorations to hang up in the kitchen. I also picked up a package of window clings that he enjoyed putting on the canisters in our kitchen. This year I decided to get a little crazy and make a wreath for the front door. I love the way it turned out! I hate that I used my good Christmas wreath as a base because I really don't want to take it apart and wish I would have used one of my cheaper wreaths. Not sure what I was thinking other than this one was easy to get to.

Before starting our days deliveries today we started our morning off by going through the McDonald's drive through and picking up a couple of breakfast burritos. I decided it would be fun to pay it forward and purchased breakfast for the lady in the car behind us and had the cashier tell her Happy Valentine's Day. It was fun seeing her reaction and was fun shedding a little Valentine's Day cheer.

After McDonald's we headed out on our route of morning deliveries. First we surprised my Mom at work and took her and the ladies she works with some Valentine goodies.

Next we made a detour at a store close by my Mom's work. I always refer to stores where Caleb needs to keep his hands in his pockets and not touch things as a "mommy store" so before we went in I reminded Caleb this was a "mommy store" and he wasn't suppose to touch anything. He did a great job and told me "this is a beautiful mommy store" and wanted to know if we were going to give the lady working there a Valentine :-).

Next up on our deliveries was Nana and Papa's house. We almost missed Nana as she was pulling out of the drive as we were coming up the street but she saw us and turned around so we were able to give her and Papa their surprises. Nana and Papa surprised Caleb with a card and gave David and I a card that Caleb had helped Nana make.

After our morning deliveries we picked up a couple of free tacos from Taco Bell (I had coupons) and headed to the house to have lunch and take a break. After a little rest time (no nap though) we went to run an errand and decided to go see "Gnomeo and Juliet". Caleb seemed to really enjoy it and laughed out loud several different times. (this is the third movie he has seen at the theater)

After David got home we delivered some cupcakes to Caleb's friend across the street and then headed to Mimi's for dinner. All in all a great day and I'm so glad that I have two great Valentine's to share the day with!

Snow, Snow and More Snow

To say we have received some snow recently would be a bit of an understatement as we have received a TON of snow!

(these icicles aren't from the last big snow we received but were from the week before this last snow)
While I think a lot of people are tired of all the snow and experienced a bit of cabin fever I personally have loved it and say if it's going to snow it might as well dump on us like it did this past week.
David and I have been fortunate to be able to work from home some and set up our home office in the kitchen while Caleb got run of the house and got to watch a lot of tv in effort to keep him occupied while we worked.
I don't know what it is but there is nothing quite like a snow day and we have enjoyed our time together.

We enjoyed some yummy food like taco soup.....
potato soup......
and made snow ice cream for the first time. My mom says that I have had it before but I don't recall eating it. This was the first time that Caleb has had it and it appeared to be a hit and will definitely be something we do again.

We had a great time getting out and playing in the snow and even got a little exercise shoveling some of our driveway. Caleb loved being outside and I think ate his weight in snow.

We also took in some time to enjoy a nap or two.

I took lunch upstairs to David and Caleb one day and asked David where Caleb was and he said he was playing a racing game (he loves watching the cars crash). When I went around the couch to let him know I had brought lunch up this is how I found him....
Yesterday the boys got out and made a snowman together. Caleb was really excited to find out they were going to build a snowman but I think David ended up being the one that put it together while Caleb hung out and supervised. Unfortunately by the end of the day our snowman was already leaning sideways as the temperatures had started warming up.

While the snow has been great I will admit I'm now ready for Spring and can't wait for some warmer temperatures.
